The Chicago Jazz Philharmonic is a 60-member orchestra of classical and jazz musicians which plays Third Stream music, a new music genre blending classical and jazz traditions to open dialogue about music’s possibilities. CJP runs a weekly Saturday Jazz Academy, a tuition-based ensemble program where students ages 9-17 learn valuable life skills in addition to music/performance techniques. They’re dedicated to removing barriers to offer equal access to all, so 100% of students who apply for scholarships receive them.
